Is the Side underwater museum dive worth it?

Is the Side underwater museum dive worth it?

November 02, 2026

Yes, if you want an easy first dive: no experience is needed, an instructor dives with you one-to-one, and on the second of your two 20-minute dives you go down to the sculptures of Side's Underwater Museum, the first underwater museum in Turkey. The trip takes about six hours with hotel pickup and lunch on board, and in the 2027 season it costs €50 for scuba divers aged 16 to 70 and €35 for snorkelers.

What the day looks like

A bus collects you from your hotel and drives a short way to Side harbour, where you walk to the boat. On board you fill in a health form and get a safety briefing in English, German, Russian or Turkish. Then you put on the equipment and make your first 20-minute dive with your instructor. After a rest of about one and a half to two hours on the boat, with lunch, you make the second 20-minute dive, this time down to the museum's sculptures.

Scuba dive or snorkel?

  • Scuba diving: for ages 16 to 70, €50 in 2027. Two 20-minute dives with an instructor at your side; no diving licence or experience is needed.
  • Snorkeling: €35 in 2027, from the age of 3; on the tour page, snorkelers of any age book the Child ticket. Snorkelers swim as long as they like, but the sculptures cannot be seen from the surface. Guests under 16 can only snorkel, and a companion who does not dive also books the Child ticket.

What is included

Hotel pickup and drop-off, the diving, snorkeling and neoprene equipment, the instructor, travel insurance and lunch on board are included. Drinks are not included, and the photos and videos taken by the dive team's photographer cost extra, usually €30 to €50. Your own cameras are not allowed. Bring swimwear and a towel.
